Hey everybody, just an update of our Sat. 6/17/06 poker run. We started out at St. Pete Powersports with a bit of a late start,( yes Vern we didn't make kickstands up at 10:00 ) but we'll get there eventually. Our turnout for the ride was good, we had 7 bikes with 8 riders. Before leaving everyone drew 2 cards and we headed out at about 10:30, riding south to the Skyway. We stopped at the rest area between the toll booths and the bridge to draw our 3rd card, and also found out at this time that one of bikes needed fuel. Back on the road again, hoping the nearest gas station is close enough we rode over the bridge. Now the drama begins, we take the exit with a gas station in sight, just in time. The rider, low on fuel just ran out and was coasting in, YES, WE MADE IT ! to a new gas station not open yet. What do we do now, leave him to fend for himself, no we can't do that, we are VICTORY RIDERS. Kathy and Ted had a water bottle which Kathy finished drinking and they were off to get some gas. They are back, WHAT ! 37 cents for gas, that's outragous. The bike fires up and we're off to the next gas station and while we are here the 4th card is drawn by everyone. Next stop, Anna Maria Island and the Beach House Restaurant, on the Gulf and air conditioned inside very nice. Everyone ate anything from burgers to grouper sandwiches, steak salad or conch fritters. Time to get back on the road, but before we do the poker hand winners must be found. The winner of the jacket donated by St. Pete Powersports is Mark Tischauser with 2 aces. Next winner is Vern Clausen with 2 nines and the third winner with 2 eights is Brian Lowe. The second and third prizes also donated by St Pete Powersports were a detail kit and a t-shirt. Well we headed back over the Skyway and returned to St. Pete Powersports where the prizes were handed out by David Meyers. A few pictures were taken of the prizes being awarded and of us drawing our first cards, also of the group leaving the dealership, so be on the lookout for some of these pictures being posted on the St. Pete Powersports website. THANKS AND KEEP RIDING SAFE David R. Oh, by the way Vern did you notice that I didn't say WHO ran out of gas.
Mark is the winner of a Victory Jacket....Vern won some GAS...I mean a detail kit... ( sorry Vern ) and Big Brian won a Little T-Shirt......Dave is just smiles.
" You guys need to start these rides a little later " says Vern. " Then I would have time to get some gas!!".
